As companies spend more money on CSR initiatives, it will become increasingly important for them to quantify the impact of these initiatives – as well as to identify the potential costs and negative publicity associated with a CSR disaster. This panel will explore how a return on CSR initiatives can be quantified, how to avoid the costs associated with transgressions and the impacts to the bottom line when something does go wrong.

           

Neeraj Bharadwaj, Assistant Professor of Marketing - Moderator
 

Neeraj Bharadwaj (Ph.D., University of Wisconsin), was appointed as Assistant Professor of Marketing in August 2008. His research – which focuses on marketing accountability, sustainability, and marketing strategy – appears in the Journal of Marketing, International Journal of Research in Marketing, Marketing Letters, Journal of Retailing, and Journal of Business Research. In recognition of his research, Dr. Bharadwaj was selected recipient of the Fox School Marketing Department’s 2008-09 Research Excellence Award and named finalist for the 2008 Harold H. Maynard Award by the Journal of Marketing editorial board. Dr. Bharadwaj has also been widely recognized for his teaching, including being selected recipient of the Fox School’s 2008-09 Full-time MBA “Faculty of the Year” award. He previously served on the faculty at the University of Chicago and University of Texas at Austin, and as a consultant and executive seminar leader for government and corporate clients in Asia, South America, and the U.S.

 

Thomas C. Woodward, President, Bank of America Pennsylvania
 

Tom Woodward serves as State Market President for Pennsylvania in addition to his role as Senior Risk Manager with credit risk oversight for the Bank’s corporate and commercial banking activities throughout Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and Delaware.

Woodward began his career with Bank of America in 2006. Prior to that, he spent 25 years with Wachovia and its Philadelphia-based predecessors in various commercial credit and client management roles focusing on Middle Market, Large Corporate, and Institutional relationships throughout the greater Philadelphia region.

As Market President for Bank of America, Woodward provides business, civic and philanthropic leadership for the Bank throughout Pennsylvania, with a focus on the greater Philadelphia market. In leading the local leadership team for the Bank, he works to strengthen communication and integration with the company’s local business lines. He also has direct oversight of Bank of America’s philanthropic and sponsorship assets throughout the regional community.

Woodward devotes a great deal of his free time to the arts and charitable and civic activities. He serves as Chairman of the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance, and Secretary of the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania. He also serves on the boards of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, Select Greater Philadelphia / CEO Council for Growth, the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, and Philadelphia’s Committee of Seventy. Tom additionally serves in a corporate advisory capacity for the National Constitution Center, the Eisenhower Fellowships, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Woodward is a graduate of Grove City College in Grove City, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Economics. He also holds an MBA in Finance from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. A native of Chester County, Tom is a resident of Center City Philadelphia.

 

James Sanders - Sr. Business Development Manager, U.S. Commerce Department
 

James Sanders has over a decade of experience in the banking and investment arena. Currently, he is currently a Sr. Business Development Manager with the U.S. Commerce Department, Minority Business Development Agency, Pennsylvania Minority Business Enterprise Center. His role is to accelerate the growth of mature/existing minority businesses in the state of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining the Minority Business Development Agency, James worked for Wachovia Bank, N.A as a small business specialist and registered representative, Northwestern Mutual, and The Vanguard Group.

James earned his Bachelor of Science degree in economics and finance from Virginia State University in 2000.

Mr. Sanders resides in Philadelphia, Pa with his wife, Dolores, a respiratory therapist. He has 1 son (14) and 1 daughter (7). James has a deep passion for competitive sports, especially football. He is an avid reader of non-fictional books, enjoys spending time with family and mentoring student-athletes.

Ken Johnston, Vice President, North America Sales for Dianomi
 

Ken Johnston currently holds the position of Vice President, North America Sales for Dianomi, Ltd. Dianomi is a global leader in digital customer acquisition and content distribution with focus on the financial services and luxury automotive sectors.

Prior to Dianomi, Ken worked at Google Inc. in New York for 4 years in media sales within the financial services vertical. At Google Ken consulted with financial clients and their agencies to use the full suite of Google’s advertising products including paid search, display, YouTube, and mobile. Ken started his career at Bloomberg, L.P. in New York where he spent 6 years in various roles, including the analytics department, terminal sales serving Canadian financial institutions, and lastly working as a foreign exchange application specialist.

Ken received his International MBA degree from Temple University’s Fox School of Business in 2006 as part of the Paris tri-continental cohort. He also holds an undergraduate BS degree in Finance from Boston College. Ken currently resides in Manhasset, NY with his wife Meredith and new daughter, Elizabeth.
