Ronald McDonald House

February 20, 2010

Three Fox students visited Sheppard Elementary School on West Cambria Street on Feb. 20 to spend some time with students on a science lesson as part of the Discovery Outreach program. Volunteers worked with students on a project about birds and what they eat. The kids leaned how birds with different beak sizes and shapes ate different types of food. They used clothespins, toothpicks, spoons and scissors to pick up marbles, styrofoam peanuts, raisins and macaraoni.

For snack time, kids had a different "bird" challenge of picking up their food with chopsticks. They ended the day by dissecting owl pellets and piecing together the skeletons to figure out what the owls ate.

Thanks to volunteers Kimberlee Klosowski, Will Tonkin and Prudence Lee for representing the Fox school so well at the event!

Ronald McDonald House

January 28, 2010

Several Fox students visited the Ronald McDonald House on Chestnut Street on Jan. 28 to help run a night of video games and music for the children and their families currently living there. Students set up the video game rock band and coached the children as they played some of their favorite songs. The Ronald McDonald House is a nationwide charity that provides temporary lodging for the family members of children receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. Thank you for your efforts!

2009

Several volunteers from the Fox School braved the early morning cold to volunteer at the Philadelphia Marathon. The group held a barrier separating the fastest runners from the pack. As the starting time drew near, students saw runners go through pre-race rituals, as well as some festive outfits. Some students also had the opportunity to speak with Mayor Michael Nutter, who stood nearby. After the starting gun went off, the dedicated students stayed to assist with the clean up process as well. Thank you for your efforts!

You can make checks payable to "Temple University" and write "MBA & MS Scholarship Fund" in the memo. All donations are 100% tax deductible! Take a look at the photos below!
